11 out of the 20 top films of 2018 are from the Big 6 with Disney producing the greatest financial success. There are a few different movie genres in the top 20 but the one that dominates them all is action films with 8 out of 20 coming under the genre of action. No indie or foreign films made it into the top films of 2018, but there was one that came under the genre of Biography. 9 of the 20 movies on the top list are sequels, this means the majority of big movies made are originals, how ever this isn't always the case. 14 out of the 20 are aimed towards a younger audience with 4 of the 13 being marvel movies. I would say drama and romance films where sparse in 2018 the market could do with a few more to appeal to more of an audience. I think the target audience for most of these films is younger teens to older children around 10-16 because of the super hero movies and the children films like Mary Poppins and The Grinch.
How many are from the big six? What company produced the greatest financial successes?
What genre of films dominate?
Are they blockbuster, indie, foreign? Any successes that aren't typically big grossing films?
How many are are sequels?
How many are blockbusters aimed at a younger audience?
How many different formats are there? ie 2D Name them.
What kinds of film genres seem to be missing?
How many of the film distributors seem to be producers as well?
Who do you think are the target audiences for most of these?
